OK, OK, I said it too, but I’m not Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics, Division of
Endocrinology. Someday I’ll be telling you “I told you so”, but for now, listen to Dr. Lustig. The video is almost an hour and a half long. You may listen to the entire lecture, but I beg of you to at least listen from 1:12:30 to about 1:22:00. I guarantee you will have difficulty not listening to the rest of the video and you may even go back to the beginning to hear the whole thing. It is astonishing what the affects of sugar are having on our society. Let me put this in no uncertain terms to you…. Sugar Is Poison….. S.I.P. Every “S.I.P.” of soda that you drink is leading you down a faster route to R.I.P.Please take ten minutes and watch this video from 1:12:30 to 1:22:00. I implore you. Watch it for you, your friends, your family. Thanks, FV

Eat This NY
The Duchess of Amboy
I can not even listen to this……..sugar is not poison! If I’m going to die because I eat too much sugar well then atleast I die HAPPY! I believe that if you control your portion and you don’t push it……you will live an average normal life. Gentetics come into to play with or without sugar!!!!!! Who the hell is this doctor anyway…remember doctors are only human they are not gods……they are also not always right! It is called an opinion, maybe an educated one, but an opinion. I LOVE SUGAR! Within reasonable limits! I LOVE SUGAR!
Uugh… I cannot believe how much sugar is in baby formula. Is this is make it tasty for the parents; therefore, one would be more likely to choose this brand for their children?
And OMG! Those bloated belly pictures, I don’t get it. How is it possible? Fructose is bad for you, we all know this. Common sense needs to be used when eating. The FDA is paid off. The results of studies will always reflect who is paying for it. Check out cell phone and brain tumors. Other countries and San Fran are warning their constituents of the dangers in spite of the FDA.
You may live a sugary happy life, but you may very well die a long painful death, this is not a joke Sis. We see people all around us with miserable health and have seen friends and relatives suffer from all sorts of health problems and eventually die. Not one of them has EVER said, “Ahhh, this has been such a happy sickness and now death, how happy!” Wise up and don’t be so close-minded. There’s plenty of great sweet tastes in fruits and vegetables.
I am so glad that the world is made up of people of varying opinions and mindsets; it gives me cause to feel the widest range of emotions, from admiration to loathe. To paraphrase Rhett Butler, frankly, I don’t give a damn what others are putting in their mouths. True, the trickle down effect means that what others do to their bodies will affect me somehow,i.e., tax ratios and health-care costs and reform, however, at the end of the day I only go to sleep with myself and my own conscience. I have a sweet tooth, I used to smoke, and I like a drink now and again. I know these are toxic vices, to pretend otherwise would be silly. I also LOVE healthy foods and WATER!!! Happiness is found in healthiness; healthiness is found in balance. On the other hand, let’s not be fooled. White sugar is toxic because it is processed, but it has been used for a very long time with minimal affect on public health. Newly developed forms of sweeteners (those made in the last 30 years or so) are HIGHLY processed, extremely toxic and have shown a great affect on public health in a very short time. It is hardly different than smoking a pack of cigarettes a day to indulge in consuming high fructose corn syrup and sucralose in large quantities, those being a can of pop or more per day.
Thank you and good night!
Helllllooooo……I do eat tons of fruits and veggies Bro! I grow my own vegetables and fruit ( well just strawberries, it is a start). Just because I make cake or cookies with sugar does not mean I’m the fat chick going up to the dessert buffet more than once! I agree that kids now eat too much sugar, and that is one reason kids are fat…..america is fat! Kids (and parents) are lazy and do not go out and play from morning to night like I did and many kids did. I would eat penny sugar candy, while I was playing hide n seek. We can’t blame everything on the food today! We can however blame it on lazy, americans who eat too much shit and then sit on their butts! So listen here Mr. Green Jeans I try to teach my child to make smart choices, but there is no way I will forbid her to eat ice cream every once in a while IE: Vacation, b-day parties, hot summer days when you hear the sugar truck (as you would call it) coming around tempting us all! It all starts at home….
I also officially decided to change my name to Sugar Ray BIG AUB Fraser….so BOOO-YA!
That movie was crazy. I didn’t even know that baby formula had so much sugar in it. Seriously, women, just breastfeed your kid. Its easier, and cheaper. Isn’t it?
Is this Lustig related to the ex-Steeler kicker of the late 60′s,Booth Lustig?Who without eating the poison suger, was one of the worst kicker we ever had!
I was almost expecting something over-produced with ominous music and deep gravely narration. Ended up being mostly stuff that I wanted to hear (About how Fructose sucks). Still, good to know, also to be reminded that sucrose is half fructose and half glucose, so it isn’t that different from HFCS 55. (1:1 fructose:glucose as opposed to 55:42)
i still use table sugar probably more than I should, but I actually can’t take in that much sugar in any one time, so candy ends up being a sparingly used thing. Still have a weakness for maple sugar candy, though.
Oddly enough, the drinks used in that one study, milk and water, are my current primary drinks.
Fruits are delicious. Favourites are mulberries, both the white and the black. I wish we could have a tree here, but there’s no space for one in the suburb and I bet the housing association would get pissed about having mulberry colored droppings all over the place. Too bad they can’t really be sold at market. Gold raspberries are nice, too, and brambles. In fact, most rip fruits are great, but those are my faves.
This is the guy with the badge that read “@” at Anthrocon, by the way. Yes, I sugar to that coffee, I’m a bad person. Ciao!
Hey,how’s those gardens growing out there? Since we haven’t heard from our hero FV for quite some time,I decided to amuse myself and findout if all of the sweat planting strategies are now paying off with a wonderful variety of delicious veggies from our own yards. ZP and I have already been harvesting broccoli, lettuce, beans a few red sweet pepers, kale, zucchini, cucumbers and a few tomatoes. The bulk of the tomatoes are loaded with real beauties and in a few weeks it will be tomatoe sandwich time! We do have a few in pots which experienced the tomatoe blight. One ,which is the Polish Tomatoe has the blight.Someone mentioned that a mixture of peroxide and water in equal parts in a spray bottle would cure the ill. We are willing to try it before discarding the entire plant. But since it isn’t near the garden area the others are perfectly healthy and producing! ZPsaid there is one that must weigh at least three pounds! Can’t wait to taste one.
Let’s hear fromall you gardeners and if you have photos great. But a short comment on the garden would be intersting. So FV if you’re reading this comment please get yourself re-motivated and back to blogging real soon !
Hey…Knock Knock. Anyone home? Is there a FV around? Did he give up blogging after the comments on the last blog? Did he runout of subjects? Was he kidnapped by aliens or God forbid the Pittsburgh Post Gazette food critic?Did his sister beat him up and smash his typing fingers beond usage? Did he eat the dreaded sugar? Did he join the Navy?Where in the hell has he been for the last month or so? And to add insult to injury where has the Dutchess been? Did she reinlist? Was she left in Maryland? Did she run away to Italy? Where has she been? My two favorite bloggers zip, nada, niema, zero from them. Hhmmmmm.
Ah a sighting! Iactually seen and spoke to FV over this weekend! Just as I was telling the Duchess of Amboy that I gave up on reading FV guess who popped into the room? Goood ol’FV and to my surprise he handed a bithday card to me for my special day! Talk about being taken by surprise! He looks well having lost some weight. And contrary to my belief he was not in hiding from Aubrey!!Great seeing you FV and thanks for the birthday card and gift!We do have to go fishing someday soon!
PS ZP thanks you for the bricks!
