Evolution of FV

In the beginning… 11/30/09

Changing nutritional gears for yourself is hard enough, but changing the minds of others around you is like disproving a totally accepted societal belief. When Columbus told his people around him that the world was round, he endured ridicule, disbelief, scorn and even threats of death. He sailed anyway and instead of falling into an abyss, he went where he claimed – around. He showed the world, by his own action, that they were wrong.

So, in order to prove my theories right and shed all skins of hypocrisy, I am going to sail around the nutritional world and show that the only abyss is being created by the mass production food companies concerned only with profit and minimal consumer casualties, supported by a government who easily turns it’s head at the flash of a dollar.

During the  “Evolution of FV”, I will document every single solitary bit of matter that I ingest. I will diligently report this information each and every day through words, links and pictures. Truth be told, ol’ FV is carrying some extra pounds, so a portion of the project is personal. Although my goal is to un-hypnotize the public and free everyone from the lock that the industry and government has on our eating habits. This blog feels like three ships granted to me by the queen and I plan to use the opportunity wisely.

I will start with these simple ground rules.

1) NO processed sugar of any kind, especially the dreaded high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This will limit me to pure honey or agave nectar. (I’m still on the fence about agave, but I’ll keep you posted).  I’ll add more if my research proves any others worthy.

2) NO hydrogenated oils. I’ll stick to cold pressed pure oils, mainly the old standby, olive.

3) Limited intake of preservatives, observing that there are natural preservatives like salt and citric acids.

4) Only whole grain or wheat  flour in food products. No bleached flour products.

5) Twice a day – 10 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, 10 up-downs.

So, stay with me as I log my trip, come along if you want. I promise not to lead you off the edge, but only to pull you from it.

Here we go,

FV

Go for it Jim! I’m looking forward to the updates.

  4. Well, well, well. Don’t worry, FV, I will support you in this effort even if I don’t join you every step of the way. I believe I will continue to bake with sugar. And I don’t believe I have eaten my last dish of pasta or slice of bread. However, I did enjoy our detox (which was MY idea, in case anyone is wondering!), particularly because it reminded me to drink lots of water every day and the elimination of refined sugars, flour, and caffeine really worked to eliminate any and all feelings of extreme fatigue and bloating. The other thing the detox week taught me was that my diet is pretty damn healthy already. So, since the one thing I craved most was sweets, I’ll keep on baking them. And I think I’ll just go ahead and use that poison you call sugar. Or is it that sugar you call poison? My body needs a little poison once in awhile to remind it how to fight back! I mean, I eat SO MANY anti-oxidants if I stop eating sugar, what will they do with their time? Sit idle? Remember that old saying that I like to live by, “if I rest, I rust”?!

  5. Remember, I stopped using sugar in my coffee completely almost 2 years ago!!! At the urging of my mother to use less, I, of course, decided to use none!

And another remember…. like i just said, my anti-oxidants need a cause!

Congratulations on your journey.Svelt is not generally associated with me! As you know, whenyou come down as many chimney as me you need those extra calories from those delicous cookies that the kids leave. Not to mention that when you live in the cold North Pole (and if it really is Global Warming you could have fooled me!) you need those extra calories. Wheat flour? Hell,I’m lucky if Ms. Claus can find any flour when she goes shopping! And if I ever tried feeding the elves organic, well there would be an uprising. THe only ones here who might appreciate organic veggies are the reindeer. All except Vixen who has diverticulitis.Anyway FV good luck on your journey and I’ll be watching(asalways) Ho-Ho-Ho
